Genesis 22:13-14 ’And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and...offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this
day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”
God has made provisions for us even before we were born to make us prosper on earth and as we walk with him, he will reveal them to us. God called Abraham to sacrifice Isaac his son on Mt Moriah. Abraham was shown the mountain and as well all know the story, God tested him and provided a ram in place of Isaac. Abraham named that Mountain, Jehovah Jireh meaning
Upon the Mountain, it shall be seen
It was a life of worship, total surrender and absolute yieldedness to God that brought him there. There is a place that God is taking you in your walk of faith (trusting Him every step of the way), where you come to see that provision is what God reveals, rather than what you run after.
God was given so many names on the Bible and one of them is Jehovah Jireh which is in the Old Testament. There is a difference between earning and provision. We earn by working for something while provisions is given to us free of charge. From the story, a ram was held by the thicket, Abraham did not have to rear it, God provided and made available at the point when Abraham needed it. As Christians, we must believe that God knows our every problem before we tell him and He is ever ready to make provisions for us.
Abraham did see the ram God provided for him in his tent, but he saw it on the Mountain. It was the obedience of faith that brought him there. In the New testament, the Bible told us in Hebrew 11: 18-19 that Isaac would be resurrected
Of whom it was said, Through Isaac shall your descendants be reckoned.(J)
For he reasoned that God was able to raise [him] up even from among the dead. Indeed in the sense that Isaac was figuratively dead [potentially sacrificed], he did [actually] receive him back from the dead.
Abraham lived a life of total worship, surrender to God and that is why he was regarded as father of faith. God has our best interest at heart and He is taking us to our promised Land. So, we must trust God in every way and lean not on our understanding.
