Many things have been said about love ... It is something as old as the universe, because God, being the essence of Love, created it to be a primordial part of our lives. When it is not present, chaos comes and can lead to the destruction of the human being.
There are 3 types of love:
Fileo ( Fraternal )
It is fraternal love, including friendship and affection. It is wanting, supporting, supporting someone. It is what one feels towards a person because of friendship, similarities, tastes. Family love, brothers, children.
An example of the Bible is in the apostle Paul and the love he had for the brothers in the faith ...
«We were like a mother with her children ...» 1 Thess. 2.7
«Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord» 1Cor. 4:17
«I pray you for love ...» Philemon 1: 9
It is the kind of love that we must develop with all our fellow human beings. In the church a family bond is formed, similar to the one we have at home, that's why we call ourselves brothers.
The second love occurs in adolescence or adulthood ...
Eros (Couple Love)
This love is the romantic, who wants, who seeks sexual satisfaction. God has done it in a way that there is a strong physical desire for each other, expressed in the delight of living their sexuality with each other.
It is the love that must be given within marriage, along with love and agape love agape (below). The 3 loves are necessary within marriage, because it requires total surrender: commitment, fidelity, and supernatural love. If one marries based on this love alone, that marriage is destined to fail, because it has no good basis to withstand the storms: disagreements, conflicts that brings the union of 2 completely different beings, which must adapt to each other.
Follow the most sublime love, which can be experienced when we already know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior ...
Ágape (Love of God)
It comes only from God. It is divine love, supernatural, the deepest. It does not depend on feelings. It is a sacrificed love; that gives without expecting anything in return.
For example, when we love those who hate or insult us (Matthew 5:44).
It is like saying: "No matter what a man (saint or sinner) does to me, I will never seek to harm or avenge him. I will never look for anything else for him that is not the best. "Something apparently impossible to do for the one who does not have Christ as Lord.
Agape love makes man able to fulfill himself. It not only takes your heart, but also your mind and your will. True love is born of the will and becomes a feeling, not the other way around. Only God loves without any effort of will because He is the essence of love (1 John 4: 8).
God pours it out in our spirit so we can love the impossible: to people who are difficult to love humanly. Thus, the commandment to love is not burdensome, because God puts at our disposal the capacity for it.
The ultimate example of agape love is Jesus going to the Cross to die for his enemies (Romans 5: 8).
Agape love is the love that God wants all Christians to have, because if we have it, it will make it easier to fulfill His commandments about LOVE.
We are spirit, soul and body. Three loves that correspond: agape, fileo, eros. Agape and fileo should be given in every relationship. Eros is only reserved for marriage.
Let us learn to love with righteousness of heart!
