The gameweek started with a poor Arsenal performance that led to an unlikely blank against West Ham on Saturday afternoon. Unai Emery’s Gunners were uncharacteristically poor in attack and they never really tested the, at the day, solid West Ham defense.
In Crystal Palaceś 2-1 defeat to Watford it was the Palace right back ,Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who picked up maximum bonus points despite not being involved in a goal or keeping a clean sheet. AWB has been the “cheap” defender to own all season and sits in 33 % of all teams. His recent display shows the power of his Fantasy appeal, with more decent scored expected from him in future as his style of play is favoured by the Bonus Points System.
Manchester City kept their first clean sheet since November as they took quite an easy win against a ten-man (19th-minute red card from Willy Boly) Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad.
Leicester suffered a home defeat to Southampton but once again Ricardo Pereira showed his a great fantasy asset. His assist for Leicester only goal was his third attacking return in four matches for the defender. Pereira was shifted back to right-back on Saturday after playing in attacking midfield against Everton in Gameweek 21. Even from the right-back position he managed to have most penalty box touches of all players who started at the King Power Stadium.
Fulham keep on struggling. This time they managed to lose 2-1 to Burnley without conceding a shot on target to their hosts. This was possible due to two own-goals.
The biggest fantasy news from the weekend has to be Harry Kane’s injury.
Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford delivered more attacking returns as Manchester United kept up their 100% record under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by winning 1-0 away to Spurs. From a fantasy perspective though, the Red Devils’ victory was overshadowed – by an injury to Harry Kane late in the game. Now it looks like Kane will miss out until early March and he has already been sold by over half a million managers.
