The aspect of Storing data on a server is also referred to as server-side storage and this refers to data that is kept on centralized hardware, independent of the user's device.
This simply implies that users can switch devices, clear their cache and reinstall software and their data. While all the process is done this will be safety stored back on the server. This system is done using a central server.
Unlike the Crypto Speech based on my research is a reformed style of Twitter messages that is
been stored forever unlike other websites that stores data on a central server been mentioned earlier.
What is Crypto Speech?
Crypto Speech is a more better way of retrieving and storing messages unlike the central server.

Crypto speech the process by which this is performed relies on Ethereum blockchain or Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) which enables you to perform activity of storing and retrieving messages.
The most interesting part of the crypto speech is that not only will It store and retrieve message but will also have the exact time it took place with the person or user that summitted file and this will be saved forever. The user can have access to it any time.
So far the Ethereum is still in existence the record of those files can not be erased.

What is MetaMask all about?
MetaMask is more than just an Ether wallet. It's an Ethereum Browser which gives you same access to all the same functions, features and ease of access from regular Ethereum Wallets, and it allows you to interact with Dapps and all without the need to download the blockchain or install any software.
If you are unwilling or decide to use any real ether to post a message, you can post to the Crypto Speech contract on the ropsten test network instead of the main network . This is just to make it more easier for you.

The Ropsten test network based on my research is essentially used as a testing environment before the application of code on the main net.
In addition to the main net, the requirement of writing on net is free. Though there may be some other differences to the ropsten test net compare to the main net, but I'm not certain as I haven't read the specification and I'm not really sure where it's at.

So I think with this particular dapp it will help you store and also receive messages any time, any where when needed in the future which can never be erased, deleted or lost in other to get in touch with it using the crypto speech.
And no doubt, a reliable one to depend on than the previous central server been used for the same storing and retrieving of messages
