Sau to leave 7s series very soon

Eroni Sau who due to his strong defence and powerful attack was given the nickname “the Sledgehammer” by HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series commentators, is about to leave the 7s series. Moving to greener pastures, Sau will most likely be playing the last few games of his career in the series in the next leg in London and Paris.

The next season will see him join French Top 14 club Perpignan (USAP). So far, Sau has participated in 46 games for Fiji which has seen him come off with 165 points from 33 tries.

In the 7s series held at Hong Kong this year, he was voted top scorer. He has also helped in winning no less than four tournaments for Fiji, the four being Hong Kong, Vancouver, Singapore and Hamilton.

He is also a top contender in the list made by Gareth Baber for the world cup. This competition is scheduled to begin on July 20 and end on the 22nd. It would hold at the AT&T Park in San Francisco, USA.

USAP club’s director, Christian Lanta who spoke on Sau’s signing noted that the player had all the characteristics of a Fijian winger, especially in terms of support, ability to conquer one against one and speed. He will join the club by the end of July on a two-season contract.
