Spotify Lite comes in 36 markets for Android

Spotify Lite, an app version of the streaming service that saves storage space, is now being rolled out extensively, but for the time being only for Android

Spotify wants to make music and podcasts accessible everywhere, regardless of the quality of the Internet connection. Why not, because more paying users mean more direct sales, more non-subscribers, in turn, promote the monetization of advertising. With Spotify Lite, which is now officially rolled out after many tests, even users who have a weak Internet connection or a smartphone with a few years on the hump to make the best use of the service.

The app saves storage space and loading time

Lite version users will still be able to search for and play songs or podcast episodes or share or save them as well. Kalle Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify, explains:

Spotify Lite What makes the world's best music experience - especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage

If you have installed at least Android version 4.3, you can download the app separately. The advantage: it is only 10 MB in size and thus quickly installed and loads just as fast.

Lite allows users to set a data limit. If it is reached, a notification can inform. In addition, the cache can be checked and emptied in the app, with just one click. The app version, which is not yet available for iOS, is currently available in 36 markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America; especially in countries where there is often no nationwide good network available. These include Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Qatar, South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uruguay, Panama and many more.
