Today was another special day for BMX sport but indeed is a day that will go down in history for Colombia and the world forever.
Mariana Pajon a beautiful young woman, born in the city of Medellin - Colombia 23 years ago and today August 19th – 2016 won a gold medal in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro leaving her name and our country’s at the top of the podium once again.
This female biker is the first Colombian in history to win two gold medals, in addition to a consecutive Olympics appearance and just made history again by winning gold in the women's BMX in Rio 2016 obtaining her second gold medal in the Olympics she has made part of.
Four years ago she participated in the Olympic Games that were celebrated in London where she came out at the top of the podium with the gold medal. Today´s performance left her as number one in the world for the second time. In London she had a time of 37.706 seconds and today she beat her own time with an outstanding 34.508 seconds!
For this reason I feel very proud of being Colombian and through a sport like BMX the image of our country keeps changing slowly from negative to positive!
