The Spain international refused to applaud the politician alongside his international team-mates in a move branded as
"revenge" by some section of the Spanish media. The 27-years-old was linked to an underage prostitution ring involving a Spanish director named Torbe but was later cleared of all wrongdoing. At the time, sanchez who was elected PM claimed he was uncomfortable seeing the keeper wearing the national colors of Spain.
De Gea said: "i politely accepted this apology. "What he said at the time was in public, and that is why i think the apology should be made in public too.
" I am a very calm guy and it is difficult for me to be affected, but you have family, people close to you,who are affected more.
" It is water under the bridge and it came out that i was all a lie. "I think for a time I was not treated as I should have been. A lot of people criticused me,knowing that what they said about me was not correct, but afterwards they did not have the bravery to rectify what they said".
