@aussieninja
Hello hello!
Thanks for clicking on my report!
So this was the season where I was going to get an idea if dropping down from Championship League III to Silver or Gold was going to be better for me or not.
On one hand you have the higher opportunity of winning DEC from placing on the Leaderboard and/or ranking higher in tournaments, and on the other hand you have the loss of Loot Chests (from 80 in Champ III to 30 in Gold I).
Another downside is the lack of Champion Points (which Matt Clarke warned me about). You get 10 airdrop points per Champion point... and my overall Champion points (11,789) did not increase in this last season...
You get additional Champion Points for the number of Rating points you get above 3700 (Thanks @Grapthar!) so I'm definitely going to have to keep an eye on that next time I launch myself skyward!
Assuming I can get into Champion I again, which might be doubtful...

It was a super intense season...
I initially limited myself to the Silver league... and a day or two into it I realised it wasn't going to work for me. I usually play around 150 games per season... this season was a bit more hardcore and I played 272 games.
The leaders of the Silver League however, played 470, 1190, 429, 339, 508, 711, etc games. I can't or won't devote that much time to it... and because of my power level the games I was winning in Silver would give me 3 Rating points... and losses would subtract 35 points, so it was rough going.
The leaders in the Gold league were more in the 250-350 range, and that I can compete with.
I actually stuffed up a little... I had gotten to Gold Rank 15 with 11 hours to go... and for some reason thought I'd be able to check on and play some games this morning... without realising that would be 6am Saturday morning... and, ah, I was not up.
So in that 11 hours I slipped from 15th to 21st... Still amazing... but I was only 4 Rank points off 20th, meaning I won 4,000 DEC on the Leaderboard instead of 10,000. If I had been awake I might have been able to stay in the Top 20.
Overall, I'm happy with my performance... those last few games are so stressful... 1 loss sends you barrelling down the ladder and you have to play a number of games to crawl back up.

It's so weird... Magic is so much more effective in the lower leagues.
I honestly didn't see summoner Owster Rotwell pop up that often... Lord A rarely made an appearance (too expensive for the newer players in Gold?) and the times I saw the Haunted Spirit it didn't have reflect yet. The Llama/Kron combo was also pretty killer in the lower levels. I think many people at that level just don't have access to these cards.
Those win rates are pretty ridiculous... except for Lorna Shine. I should be ashamed of myself.
I managed to level up Brighton Bloom this season which opens up so many options in the Earthquake ruleset (like, too many options honestly) and has been super useful... but I'm now super, super, super keen to level up Mylor Crowling who I only have at Level 3.

I rarely used Alric with speeding up on the Spirit Miner and the Ruler of the Seas... so absolutely no surprises here.
One thing that has been great about this experiment is that it's really got my out my comfort zone of using the same cards over and over. I have had to be waaaaaaaay more varied... and that's led me to learn so much more about different combinations and the strengths of other cards I hadn't really considered.

I didn't realise that the Standard ruleset comes up so often in the lower leagues (especially Bronze, it's almost every game) and just never appears in the higher leagues. I honestly really enjoy the Standard ruleset.
No real surprises here.

Last season I placed in 8 tournaments and won 3000 DEC... so definite improvement here. I honestly could not work out the difference between tournaments where I placed 165th or 23th... just luck? I mean, I definitely tried to place high in each tournament... but sometimes I'd just be destroyed.

This is a nice section! Thanks @kiokizz!
I've started renting out some of the cards I've already maxed out and have spares of... because, well, why not.
My goal in the last 5 days has been to increase my airdrop points so that I can accumulate as many SPS tokens as I can over this next year. This means I haven't been spending my DEC which is kind of a massive shame because I really do get a lot of joy in leveling up my cards.
Using Mylor Crowling as an example. Each card is currently $8 in the shop. That's 1,590.837 DEC.
I believe... given that he's a Rare Dice card, that his burn rate is 40 DEC. This means he'd add 40 to my Collection Power and therefore an additional 40 airdrop points... or I can not spend the DEC keep 1,590 airdrop points. It's a pretty huge difference (unless I'm misunderstanding something which is extremely very possible).
BUT... will the SPS worth it if I lose that thrill of the upgrade? I'll have to see.
I think... at this point, I'm going to try to get back to Champion I or higher to compare Season 54 to Season 55 and see how I go for airdrop points, DEC earned and overall funness... I loved my time in the Gold league but I also miss letting loose with the full capabilities of the cards I have maxed out.
Thanks for reading this whole thing... I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of the above!
