Thank you Pinkoboe!
I wanted to write a post about Grum Flameblade to thank my guild's leader, @pinkoboe, who delegated me a copy of this powerful monster.
Approaching the end of last season, I noticed a Grum in my deck, but I had no idea where it came from. Thanks to Peakmonsters, I quickly realized that this card came from Pinkoboe!
Since it has been airdropped, I haven't got many opportunities to test it out. So, this last week, I ran it a couple of times in different rulesets. It turns out that there are, at least, three situations where Grum seems to shine!
Grum - Equal Opportunity
Rulesets: Equal Opportunity + Broken Arrows
Mana Cap: 48
League: Gold III
This use case was probably the most impressive of all.
First, Grum being bestowed with Opportunity meant that I could hide it in the middle of my lineup and not have to put it in the front line.
Second, when combined with Tarsa, its 5 Melee attacks have a great chance of eliminating the weakest monsters in one hit in this situation.
Third, by wiping out the most vulnerable monsters first, Grum's bloodlust ability makes it become stronger very fast in this ruleset.
Finally, in the following battle, Grum ended up with 8 Melee attacks, 4 Speed, 8 Armors and 12 Health points without having to take a single hit from the opposition.

Grum - Spreading Fury
Rulesets: Heavy Hitters + Spreading Fury
Mana Cap: 29
League: Gold III
In the Spreading Fury ruleset, Grum gets to 8 Melee attacks once enraged. This increases its odds of getting through a few opposite monsters.
That being said, Grum's 5 Melee attacks were enough to get through the Failed Summoner in one single hit. And, once the Bloodlust ability kicked in, Grum Melee attacks kept on growing!
It didn't stop there, as Grum got an additional armor back thanks again to Bloodlust.
This 1 armor was more precious than on any other monsters as Grum has also the Void Armor ability. Therefore, not only this 1 armor could counter huge Melee or Ranged attacks, but big Magic hits as well!
In the following battle, Grum's armor kept on blocking the Magic attacks coming from the Obsidian's team.

Grum - Noxious Fumes
Rulesets: Noxious Fumes + Melee Mayhem
Mana Cap: 26
League: Silver II
In this specific combination of rulesets, Grum was allowed to attack from the back, which spared it a few hits and helped save up its HP for sustaining the Poison.
Once in the front, Grum succeeded in wiping out the Lava Spider and Tenyii Striker, which gave it two additional HP; the exact same number of HP it ended the battle with.
Consequently, in the Noxious Fumes ruleset, Bloodlust can act like the Scavenge ability with a bit of luck. On a final note, Grum combined with the Forgotten One made for a powerful duo!

I hope you've learned something, or at least, got entertained.
See you in the next post!
