As a long time blockchain gamer, I became a player of Steem Monsters in 2018, which we now know as Splinterlands.
In the Summer of 2018, Steem Monsters card packs were released. These were the "Alpha" packs and I was eager to break them open for $2 each. I purchased these cards via my Quicksilver credit card and invested approximately $1,000 into the game. I was excited to join the game and I did.
My first match on Steem Monsters occured in the Winter of 2018. I was in Walmart, and finally decided to play. I had leveled up my monsters by combination and had maxed out levels. I was hooked, and played in the gold and champion levels of the game each season. This was before SPS rewards, and my strategy was to overpower my adversary.
I got an Alpha foil Pit Lord card, and sold it for $800. I regret that now, and sold my cards in the Spring of 2019 which I also regret. This was when the rewards were game packs, which was awesome.
In terms of strategy, I recommend buying as many packs as you can and maxing out your team. I always enjoyed the flavored gameplay and want to write about strategy in game, as a Hive blockchain gamer.
