The Saints were the better side as they managed to get the 3 points by beating The Swans 0-1 at the Liberty Stadium,in yesterday night's big match.
Southampton started the match 3 points behind Swansea, with only one match remaining to follow yesterdays's big match, so it was obvious that The Saints where the team that needed the 3 points the most.
The match was starting to look like it was heading for a goaless draw, until in the 72nd minute Manolo Gabbiadini, who came on as a substitue for the injured Jan Bednarek just 4 minutes earlier, managed to put the ball in the net with his 3rd touch of the ball, after a scramble inside Swansea's 6 yard area.
That goal proved to be enough, and it was to be the winning goal of the match. Southampton's players and staff engaged in celebrations at the end of the match, celebrating a huge victory, which could well mean that they keep their Premier League status.
The Saints are not mathematically safe yet, but they have a huge 9 goal advantage over The Swans, and they would need to loose by a huge scoreline while Swansea will need to win by a big margain in their last matches for things to change, although the Welsh side can still catch up with Huddersfield, who'll play later tonight.
This result also meant that West Bromwich Albion have been automatically relegated to The Championship, after their incredible run under their temporaily new manager Darren Moore. The Baggies had been in the Premier League for 8 successive seasons.
