Montessori Education

My daughter is currently enrolled in a Montessori School near our place. They had an open house earlier wherein Parents are allowed to go inside the classroom to observe.

Their class was divided into two batches. My daughter was included in the first batch. So we were there early. Parents were allowed to take pictures but not videos.

Here are some pictures that I was able to take.

First, they had a prayer. And it goes with an action. The students were a bit conscious because they are not used of having people inside their classroom.

After the prayer, the teacher asked them to face the flag and sang the National anthem.

Then they had a circle time wherein they sang a Good morning song and a song about the weather.

They had so many activities like story telling, identify the different parts, counting and a lot more. More photos below.

The assistant teacher was guiding her counting the sticks and put them on the correct portion of the box.

Excerpt from Wikepedia:
Montessori education involves free activity within a "prepared environment", meaning an educational environment tailored to basic human characteristics, to the specific characteristics of children at different ages, and to the individual personalities of each child. The function of the environment is to help and allow the child to develop independence in all areas according to his or her inner psychological directives.
