At the time of elaboration a drawing or an original illustration, is essential to study a lot about the subject that you want to develop; Try different angles, directions, shapes and effects. I recommend you to go calmly, practice everything you want to add and mainly make mistakes, is from mistakes that you learn and is possible to make things as we imagine them.
I remind you that is of great importance that regardless of the type of content they upload, always place the sources when an information, image or idea that is not your property. For this reason is better to share original content and created by yourselves
Now, let's start:
Materials:
-Paper
-Pencil Graphite HB and 2H
-Draft
-Cotton
- Step 1: When drawing buildings of any kind is important to add a three-dimensional effect that is not achieved only with the shading, but that the angles must be mastered; we must know that the part that faces the front will always be the largest and that the further away from that view, the lines and spaces must be more small; This type of effect can be noticed in the window that is on one of the sides and in the shape of the lighthouse.
Another important point is that to achieve at first sight that a drawing is moving away or is deeper in its environment, we must consider that between closer you can find any type of object or thing, you must draw much bigger and as you move away, we will reduce its size progressively; This was the effect I wanted to achieve by drawing the stones at the base of the lighthouse.
- Step 2: In this type of drawing I consider that it should be started by the background or the environment as it will be our guide to locate where the shading will take place in the lighthouse. To make the sea with a moderate swell we must leave a clearer space, using our creativity to give it a wave aspect, then on each of its sides we make darker tones, leaving small spaces of light to achieve that appearance of water. Remember that when the sea approaches any type of structure, the waves are stronger and the farther they are, the less intense they are.
For the sky and the clouds we just have to play a little with the shading, leaving areas with a more intense tone and taking good care of the spaces where the light should go. To achieve the shape of the clouds, the lines should be made in the form of small circles, pressing the pencil more where we consider that it should be more intense.
The effect of water on the stones that are at the base of the lighthouse is achieved by leaving small white lines that go in different directions and of different sizes.
- Step 3: With the finished background we can focus our attention on the lighthouse, we will perform an intense shading on one of the sides and little by little we will make a degrade of the graphite, in this way we complement the three-dimensional effect of our structure and we achieve the effect that light comes from one of the sides. To achieve a softer tone in our shading we can use a cotton and thus eliminate the lines that have been marked, allowing it to look smoother.
