Classify this under Saturday morning waking thoughts that are fun to consider. As I was waking up from a particularly interesting dream featuring lots of my old friends, I had a random thought that stuck in my head and it wouldn't go away. I wanted to turn it into a science fiction short story, but am not really a fiction writer.
I'm also assuming the idea has already been thought of and used somewhere out there, but it is still fun to contemplate.
So, without further ado:
What if blockchain and simulation theory explain déjà vu?
Or what if blockchain and the simulation hypothesis (that we likely live in a more advanced intelligence's simulated universe) explain déjà vécu or are at the heart of parallel universes or forked realities?
When pondering these, try imagining reality from the perspective of an (self-aware) asset on a blockchain and then also from the perspective of a conscious possessor of that asset.
Reloading or rebuilding a blockchain might feel like you've lived through this before. Forking of a blockchain and then having it gradually be resolved with one fork gradually declining in consensus might feel like fading memories of other lives or realities or like a dream. Forks that persist would be like alternate universes.
If you are having trouble accepting the premise because it sounds like I don't really understand blockchain (you are right btw) bear in mind that the programmers of our simulated universe(s) are much more advanced and have likely taken the concept of blockchain to a whole new level.
Have you seen this concept used in any science fiction stories? Let me know in the comments!

What is "real" anyways?
Hey! If you made it this far, did you know your computer can do research on cancer, astrophysics, or climate change?

Or did you hear that a threatened species of turtle returned to a beach in Mumbai after a multi-year beach cleanup effort inspired by the actions of one man?
