Salvaged Electronics For Budget Experiments

It is amazing what you can find in old electronics that you can use for other experiments. I once did a video and article on post apocalyptic electronics and what you could salvage after an economic collapse.

I gut out all my old electronics before properly disposing of the hulls and left over waste. This keeps a lot of garbage out of the landfill and also gives me some nice electronics components to work with.

When I was young my only source of electronics components was from whatever other people tossed out as garbage. I would literally strip out an entire circuit board for the electronics.

Today I tore apart an old television to get the useful parts from inside.

My previous article building a Joule Thief was made using all salvaged parts from an old television, for example.

There are a lot of potentiometers (variable resistors) in an old style TV which you can keep. The dials are also good along with them.

There is quite a bit of connecting wire to be saved for small projects. There are a lot of components on the circuit boards inside a TV.

The tube has some magnet wire wrapped around it which is great for making coils and motors.

And much more.
