A early heads up on the next NOAA Okeanos Explorer mission

A post by @herpetologyguy ( https://steemit.com/science/@herpetologyguy/beach-treasure-hunting-unusual-fossils ) reminded me of something I came across the other day.

Beginning on September, 9th the NOAA deep sea research ship Okeanos Explorer is carrying out another mission, deploying its remote controlled dive vehicles. The entire dives, video and comments by experts on the ship, will be streamed live again.

Currently the ship is mapping the ocean floor from the surface in the vicinity of the Musicians Seamounts chain near Hawaii. This serves to prepare the diving missions, and can also be viewed live - although the entertainment factor is somewhat limited, I admit.

You find the live stream #1 here:

The dive video will be on the same stream, plus you can switch to camera #2 and #3 from there.
Keep in mind that the dives will happen during daylight hours Hawaiian local time.

Don't miss out on this, if you are interested in deep sea research. I watched previous missions and must say, it is amazing, like live pictures from a different planet. Not seldomly they even find formerly unknown species during the dives.

So, see you on the bottom of the Pacific in September! :)
