Scientific literacy around the world is hugely important. It teaches people to be curious and question everything. This is the very foundation of what makes humans human. The want for information and unquenchable curiosity has brought about the age where we can learn anything with just a few clicks. Some people however willingly stay ignorant. Why is this? There have been studies done for decades about why people willingly stay ignorant and many have success, many don't but it never seams to change the fact that a lot of humans will deny clear evidence in favor of the super natural and illogical. What is even worse is that when it comes to topics that every body knows of but pretends to understand, the superficial ideas that people have about science and fact is amazingly vast.

Ask yourself, do you really know what evolution is, do you really know why 1+1=2, do you really know why people act the way they do, do you actually know politics to a degree that you can teach it? These are questions that the general population claims to have an understanding but when it comes to thinking deeply about them, they do not have answers. As Albert Eisntein said famously, "if you cannot explain it simply, you do not understand it will enough".

Many people will also lie to themselves when questioned and will answer untruthfully, or against their own ideals. This is often to assure themselves that they are smarter than they really are. Then many of these people will refuse to learn a topic out of fear of themselves thinking they are not as smart as they think they are. This is called being willingly ignorant and it plagues the human race. It is not bad to not know something but when people are willing to stay ignorant and in the dark about things even with the ability to learn in just a few clicks that is when, then it becomes an issue. It becomes an issue because often times the ignorant are the loudest and will spread misinformation unintentionally.

Not knowing is not bad, willing to be stupid and in the blind about things when it is easy to learn is one of the fatal flaws of humanity.

Now please take the survey again it would greatly help what I am trying to do and learn. I will post the findings in another post soon.
