Prayer can be defined as a Christian’s way of communicating with God. We pray to praise God and thank Him and tell Him how much we love Him. Prayer is not meditation or passive reflection; it is a direct commune with God. The following are scriptures backing my introduction.
Psalm 5:3
In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].
Psalm 22:24
For He has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither has He hidden His face from him, but when he cried to Him, He heard.
Psalm 50:15
And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me.
Psalm 55:17
Evening and morning and at noon will I utter my complaint and moan and sigh, and He will hear my voice.
Psalm 102:17
He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer.
Isaiah 30:19
For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you.
Isaiah 55:6
Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near.
Jeremiah 33:3
Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).
Matthew 7:7
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.
Mark 11:24
For this reason, I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].
1 Thessalonian 5:17
Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly].
James 4:8
Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].
