Full Moon day of Waso
This year’s Waso Full Moon Day fell on July 8th. It is an important date in traditional lunar calendar.
Waso Day commemorates the Buddha's First Sermon and the beginning of the Buddhist Lent. It is also the day when the Buddha was conceived and the day when adult Buddha left the Kingdom in search for enlightenment.
The Buddhist lents takes place every year over three months from July to October. During this period abstain from tarvelling and devote themselves to religious duties in their own monasteries.
