Luke 2: 22-40

22 And when he fulfilled the days of their purification, according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
23 (as written in the law of the Lord: Every man who opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord,
24 and to offer according to what is said in the law of the Lord: A pair of turtledoves, or two palominos.
25 And here in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon, and this man, righteous and pious, awaited the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he would not see death before he saw the Lord's Anointed.
27 And moved by the Spirit, he came to the temple. And when the parents of the child Jesus brought him to the temple, to do for him according to the rite of the law,
28 He said in his arms, and blessed God, saying:
29 Now, Lord, despise your servant in peace,
According to your word;
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 Which he has prepared in the presence of all peoples;
32 Light for revelation to the Gentiles,
And glory of your people Israel.
33 And Joseph and his mother were amazed at all that I know of him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to his mother Mary, Here it is, this one is set to fall and to the uprising of many in Israel, and to signal that it will be contradicted.
35 (and a sword will pierce your very soul), so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.
36 There was also Ana, a prophetess, daughter of Fanuel, of the tribe of Asher, very old, because she had lived with her husband seven years since her virginity,
37 years old was eighty-four years old; and he did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fasting and prayer.
38 She presented herself at the same time, thanked God, and spoke of the child to all who expected redemption in Jerusalem.
The return to Nazareth
39 After having fulfilled everything prescribed in the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, in their city of Nazareth.
40 And the child grew and was strengthened, and filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.

Reflection
This paragraph from the bible tells us about the presentation of Jesus before the temple, in compliance with the law given to Moses by God, this gives us the message of the fulfillment of each other of the divine laws in our life, for Jesus being a child of God, I do not avoid fulfilling what the Law of God ordered, giving us the message that we must adapt our lives to the Divine Law, since this recognition of the Law and the recognition of Jesus Christ as a source of light and life will lead us to Eternal life
Already from the birth of Jesus and even before, Joseph and Mary, showed an observance of the Law and the traditions of their people, because we cannot forget that Jesus was circumcised eight days after being born, then we have another sign of observance of customs and traditions in the imposition of the name and purification of Mary, exactly 40 days after Christmas.
Another relevant fact that the Bible gives us with the narration described is that it makes us turn and repair the old prophet Simeon who, in the first place, feels the promise fulfilled "he would not see death before he saw the Lord's Anointed One." Beyond everything, see in this child, a true and gigantic light, so great that it can illuminate all the peoples of the world, not only the people of Israel, for he is the Light of the World, but this prophet goes beyond, when he says to Mary “Here it is, this one is set to fall and to the uprising of many in Israel, and to signal that it will be contradicted
35 (and a sword will pierce your very soul), so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. ”Thus, the Prophet showed his future vision regarding the sacrifice of the lamb of God on a cross,“ a sign that will be contradicted ” and the wound on the side of Christ "(and a sword will pierce your very soul)".
The teachings that we can obtain from the above, lie in our commitment to fulfill the Law of God, every day, every hour and every moment, in us and with our fellow men, in addition to the recognition that Jesus Christ is the Light that illuminates the path of salvation that undoes the darkness in our life at every moment, besides being fervent practitioner of prayer, so that it enlightens us, but more importantly, by sending us Jesus Christ as Light of the World for our salvation.
