The transfiguration Mr. 9.2-13; Lc. 9.28-36

1 Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them apart to a high mountain; 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him. 4 Then Peter said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you want, let's make three branches here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.5 While he was still talking, a cloud of light covered them; and behold a voice from the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear him. 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 Then Jesus came up and touched them, and said, Get up, and do not be afraid. 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus alone.
9 When they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying: Tell no one the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead. 10 Then his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first? 11 Jesus answered and said to them, In truth, Elijah comes first, and he will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has already come, and they did not know him, but did whatever they wanted with him; so also the Son of Man will suffer from them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he had told them about John the Baptist.

Comments:
We are approaching Holy Week and we approach this reading where the Transfiguration of Jesus is narrated and within it this stronger sign, the voice that comes out of the cloud saying "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am pleased" with this phrase God credited Jesus to his disciples, in order to strengthen their faith.
This reading, in these times, close to the commemoration of the Calvary of Jesus, invite us to identify ourselves with the disciples Peter, James and John, by allowing us to strengthen our faith and consecrate ourselves in Christ, for by the hand of irradiating the light of the immortality.
The importance of recognizing Christ as the son of God goes beyond acclaiming him as our leader or our guide, since it allows us to walk together with him, on the path of salvation.
The moments that we live full of economic, political and health crises must make us, draw closer to God as a merciful Father who wants to radiate his glory in this world.
In the face of all these challenges, there are many who will feel weak and forsaken by the Lord and before that feeling they will become aggressive, we can tell these people that God has not left us alone, nor abandoned and less forsaken, because between us and in each one of us is the Son of God, with whom we have to transfigure ourselves to make this same glory transparent, thus preventing our society from falling into self-destruction.
But we will ask ourselves: How can we come to reveal the glory of the Lord in our day? Well, through various manifestations of glory, which the Lord indicates to us in Matthew 25:35 “Because I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink; I was a guest, and you took me in ”, that is, give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, teach the one who does not know, protect the abandoned and tolerate your brother's weaknesses.
Let's do this in such a way that in the midst of the most difficult situations, we manage to have an oasis where good humor, understanding, affection and mutual acceptance reign, leaving aside gossip, revenge and rivalries.
Who among us feels comfortable in the midst of confrontation, fierce criticism, aggression and violence, I believe that none of us, We have the obligation to become those oases where our sisters and brothers feel comfortable, since Christ asks us to Let us make good news for each of our brothers, we, each one of us, we have the obligation to accept this assignment and allow ourselves to become those oases where good humor, understanding, affection and mutual acceptance reign.
