We all have 24 hours a day.

I have a problem with that.

You see... I have a medical condition that needs me to take meds that puts me to sleep for long hours. More than 12 hours at a time.

I still struggle to stay up long enough to get all my work done during the day.

In February 2022, I decided to try out something. Work 36 hours and then sleep 12 hours. This was possible for 4 sessions. After that, I felt terrible, and that meant burnout.

From today onwards, I will sleep that 12 hours every day. Work 12 hours of the day. I will try my best to make sure that I utilise that 12 hours properly. That means... no dilly dally in anything. I have to protect my 12 hours awake.

We have no control over many things, and we just have to live with it. We may want to deny or try all sorts of ways to control what we cannot. But, eventually, we will have to learn to accept what we cannot control and work towards lessening the uncontrollable effects.

There are a billion things that may want our attention every day. It is then more important to isolate those that are not important and work on those most important to us. We have to learn to identify what is essential, which is very hard at times. That's because a lot of stuff just seems necessary. Not being able to tell the weeds is going to make work hard to execute. Since everything is essential, you don't know what to weed out.

That's why we have staff and employees to do that which we can delegate.

That costs money. So we have to somehow find enough money to cover the cost of getting staff and then leverage work with employees onboard. Then, earn back 4 to 5 times the amount of what you have invested there. Maybe even more.

There are many things that I want to do for my career. But I must learn how to work on things one at a time. I want to do all that I want to do and sleep as much as I need.

I don't know when I will be able to do everything that needs to be done to earn as much as possible. But one thing is for sure. I must learn what is essential and execute my work well.

Work smart. Not hard.

Remember that, ME.
