The most-awaited Steem Summit happened earlier today at A SPACE Cebu branch, located in Banilad, Cebu City, Philippines. This event was spearheaded by the steem summit organizers: @ybanezkim26, @honeyletsgo, @thegaillery and @legendarryll with the support and sponsorship of @surpassinggoogle, @donkeypong, @kryptonia and @maefe30.
The Steem Summit event preparation began last March 2018 as its official steemit account @steemsummit was launched with the goal of gathering all the Cebuano community here in Steemit to celebrate diversity of passions and talent in a very fun-filled event.
Weeks before the main event, the @steemsummit initiated calls for submission in art, photography, travel and other contests to showcase the outstanding contents by Cebuano steemians that will be exhibited in the main event.
And, today, on the main event, I have personally witnessed the fruits of their rigorous preparations. The event is a blast! Aside from the exhibits of the winners for the contests, there were performances that I was really impressed. The Cebuano community is also good in singing, beatboxing and even pole dancing. Yes! Their performance is even world-class, in my opinion. It felt like watching a live TV talent show.
We were serenaded by Jayvee Pepito and Leide Lyka Agundo in their solo performances. The Steemit Cebu Beatbox Community also showcased their exceptional talent in beatboxing. And, my personal favorite was @anneporter’s pole dance. In general, it is really unexpected to witness such diversity for the first time. In my mind, I was secretly shouting for amazement about how talented these people are.
It is really an educational experience for me too since the founders of the SuperiorCoin and @kryptonia also participated in the event to orient us about the popular Superiorcoin and how can we join in them. I am really honored and grateful to them for travelling very far to attend the event. Mr. Nathan Senn, the founder and the chief technology officer of SuperiorCoin, oriented us on their platform. And a blockchain technology expert, Mr. Michael Senn explained the blockchain technology very well.
From the Cebuano community, @morken shared a very inspiring speech on the beauty of Steemit as a right opportunity. I was really inspired by this part of his speech, “In networking, you learn first before you earn while in Steemit, you learn as you earn..”
Indeed, I cannot disagree with it since I have personally experienced it. With steemit, I was able to express myself with anything that I could offer. Through Steemit, I was able to learn a lot especially in the field of engineering which is one of my interests. I also learnt to discover some of my other hidden abilities like writing poetry. There would be so much of them to enumerate but all of them determines my improvement as a person and it gives me more reasons to enjoy more here.
One of the core leaders of the @steemph.cebu community, a sndbox fellow, and one of the steem ambassador to the Philippines, @jassennessaj, shared the milestones of the Cebuano community as he recalled them one by one in his speech entitled, “State of the Cebu Community Address”. I was glad to be mentioned in his speech for being a part of his humble beginnings in this platform. It was really amazing how my local community embraced Steemit and actively participating here, everyday.
I hope that this event will happen again someday as more and more people here in Cebu and even around the world is joining Steemit. I am expecting a bigger Steem Summit event in the future and I know it will be possible. And, I am already excited for it.
