No matter your political persuasion, we should all be concerned about Censorship or the Appearance of Censorship!

Censored

Reddit user group #wallstreetbets had their Reddit Subreddit thread Shutdown by Reddit.

Discord User Group #wallstreetbets had their Discord shut down!

Are they involved in Hate Speech? Inciting violence? Racism? Sexism?
There’s no evidence of that...
But they are talking about Stocks, they are coordinating buys and they are beating some WallStreet giants at their own game!

Epic Shortsqueeze Small Investors educate themselves and trade as a group, this isn’t illegal!

This Epic Short Squeeze taking place in GameStop is a historic moment where Wallstreet Whales got caught in a risky short trade and a community of investors started buying the stock and are set to profit massively by perfectly legal means! **See my post explaining this short squeeze Here

The response has been to shut down their means of communication, breaking the rules of Reddit and Discord, plus put pressure on all the retail trading outlets to freeze trading in this stock.

WallStreetBets doesn’t appear to be doing anything illegal.

U.S. regulators are likely to scrutinize the quadrupling of GameStop Corp.’s shares over the past two weeks, a breathtaking buying spree turbocharged by bullish touts about the video game retailer on Reddit and other online forums.
Yet for the Securities and Exchange Commission, fighting online commentary that hypes stocks is an uphill struggle, mainly because it’s hard to prove such posts are part of an illicit scheme to manipulate the market. Rather, successful enforcement cases typically hinge on the SEC showing that investors knowingly spread false information to dupe other traders into buying or selling a stock.
“It’s an enforcement nightmare for the SEC,” said James Cox, a professor at Duke University School of Law who focuses on securities regulation. “The question is: where does the manipulation start and when does trading on your own hunches and publicizing your hunches start?”

This just in on Twitter:

A dark part WallStreetBets history, and why it's important for you to know and remember

Discussion: Founder bad, greedy, got banned for being greedy.

Being greedy again with new spotlight on the sub. in 2020 the original founder (after being gone for years and did nothing to contribute to the sub), along with a couple of mods, attempted to monetize the sub for personal gains. Users and other mods fought back. Hundreds of users got mass banned for speaking out, mods who spoke out got removed as mods. With some help from users, mods found precedent of another sub creator getting banned for trying to monetize a sub and sent plea to Reddit admins. Reddit admins banned offenders and gave sub back to the good mods.
u/SpeaksInBooleans (RIP) investigated the circumstance of the events and made video exposing the offenders:

Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
Mega thread after the victory for reference.
It's important to know/remember this now, because the same person that got exiled for being a tyrant is doing a media circus, trying to ride the current spotlight for personal gain, again. Hey CNN and WSJ, stop interviewing that dipshit. The sub has always been about its people, and what you guys wanted to do (as retarded as you are). No single person speaks for the sub and controls its destiny. It is in good hands with u/zjz aka u/SwineFluPandemic
Edit: He is spreading complete lies about the sub and the mods that got him removed:
Despite being its founder, Rogozinski was kicked out of the forum in April for trying to eliminate the hate speech plaguing the community.
“There were a handful of mods who were straight up white supremacists,” he said.
“I have really thick skin and people can say whatever they want to me, but at some point there’s a moral standpoint — like with my kids, I don’t want them to think, ‘Well, they can say whatever they want about you,’” he told the paper.
