Hello community people, hope you all are doing great and enjoying the Easter holiday. It's the 39th edition of the #hivenaijaweekly contest and both topics are really interesting but one debunk a myth really got to be because I'm somehow involved, hehehe.
We know that there are so many myths in existence which I'm sure you've heard about one or two of them. Some are popular while others are not so popular.
Before I proceed let's look at what a myth is
Literally, a myth is a misconception, a widely held belief or idea which is actually false.
Every culture or society has a myth that is peculiar to them and such myths were handed down from one generations to another and one of them is;
Females With Beards Are Wicked Or Harsh
I'm sure most of you have heard about this misconception and because of that are skeptical about relating with females with such traits. I won't fault you because I also heard it countless times. Some have even shared their so called ugly experiences with such females. I wasn't there so can't say whether it's true or not but one thing I want to point out is that this belief is balderdash and the biggest lie of the century, lol.
Now read this
The reasons behind facial hair or beard on females is due to a condition called hirsutism. This hirsutism is a genetic disorder which causes excessive hair growth in the female's nine body areas.
It's high time we stopped seeing females with such features as wicked, harsh, or abnormal. If we continue with this belief, what then would we say about those who do not have beards but display acts of wickedness too.
I'm not disputing the fact that there aren't those who have such tendencies to behave such way, probably due to the excess testosterone in them, but generalizing it is unfair. This can make such females have low self esteem because they are afraid of how people will treat them. Some can even cause harm to themselves in a bid to find a way to stop it from growing
Also there is nothing abnormal with females who has facial hairs neither does it have anything to do with their character or behavior, it is purely genetic disorder.
Infact they are unique and special breeds, kindness personified, loving and accommodating. Take that to village people, lol.
Not only that, they are strong, bold, defiant and independent women.
Now if you say that females who has facial hairs are wicked, it therefore means same for men, after all the hair grows at same place. But no one would want to believe this because after all, it's a man's world.
I'm guessing the reason behind this myth is because people of old might have felt intimidated by the honor given to females with facial hair.
In ancient days, it was recorded that females grew beards just for piety and sexual purity, and as a result they were celebrated for it. You can read more here
So you see how devoted facial haired females can be.
Let me burst your bubble about a bearded female that you and I know on Hive, hehehe. Her name is
@luchyl, lol.
Yes she has both bear bear and chest hair and super proud of them. Although she usually trims the beards but now has decided to allow them grow. She's not not perfect and have flaws but being wicked is less of who she is. Well I can confidently say that she is amazing, loving, kind and an emotional person but she can square you up if you try messing up with her.
Of a truth some of the bearded females that I have come in contact with have actually proven to me that such myth about them is absolutely untrue.
My aunt - mother's immediate younger sister and my elder sister also have beards, I think it runs in my mother's family because most of the females have it. I cannot match them with being kind most especially my aunt. That woman is just too kind to a fault and it was because of her that I disabused my mind from this myth about facial haired females being wicked.
Another person is a female corps member I met during my service days. Her own is even on the neck and chest, but this lady is just too good, jovial and accommodating. She can give you the last money on her with all joy.
So before you say or believe that I and others like me are wicked or harsh, also know that there are those without it who are wicked too.
Thank you for reading, your comment is highly appreciated.
