Grandma saved the day.

Every holiday with grandma happens to be the best moment of my life. I have always packed my things even before the end of the semester, it is an eight hours journey to the province but it was worth the stress.

My level of freedom at her place was perfect, she pampered me even better than my parents. I spent most of my life in school as a boarding student and the rest at grandma's place, the bond was very tight.

Her night stories under the moonlight were superb, I never got bored of listening to her even when she repeats stories. Another amazing part of grandma was her coffee, I watched her as a kid sip from that ancient cup every morning but she wouldn't let me have a taste of it.

"Don't worry son, you can have this when you come of age", I can still remember her voice clearly in my head.

I was privileged to drink with her and I enjoyed drinking grandma's coffee every day after morning devotion. I spent my weekends in the province even while I was working in the city.

She left the world to become an angel a year ago and I miss her dearly.

Staring at her picture frame as I wore my wedding suit reminded me of a lot of things about her and those memories got me emotional. I remember how she promised to make my wedding special but she is not here today.

The day was glorious and I couldn't take my mind off her, I felt her presence around me as I stood at the altar. I wept while saying my vows and my friends teased me not knowing how emotional I was with the memories that were flowing through my head.

Our honeymoon was classic, the break gave me time away from stress and I was able to spend time with nature.

It took a lot of time before I could convince my wife to cancel the honeymoon trip to Dubai, all I wanted after the party was to spend some time at grandma's old cabin.

We arrived there and were able to clean within a day with the help of people in the neighborhood. The house wasn't bad after a year and I just spent a few bucks to fix little things to make the place more conducive for my wife.

We settled in well and I was surprised to see grandma's room still very intact. It's like no one came around after she was buried.

Life in the province turned out to be the best time I have spent with my wife, she had a great vacation spending lots of time with nature.

Two weeks passed quickly and I wished I could request more days at work but they needed me badly.

We were to leave on Sunday morning so we packed on Saturday. We left a lot of things behind since we agreed on visiting there during our vacation to relax.

On Sunday morning while locking the door, I remembered I wanted to take one of grandma's favorite books. I couldn't find her book box so I checked the cabin bunker.

Luckily for me, I found it but there was another sealed box by its side and it had a note attached "To my favorite grandchild, George".

I picked up the box and was about to open it when my wife beat the car horn repeatedly.

I carried the box along with me and left the province. I got home stressed and completely forgot that there was a box in the truck.

Monday morning came, I was up early and decided to have coffee before getting dressed for work but the unexpected happened, my coffee beans grinder went off. Every effort to fix it failed, I looked at the time and it was 7 am.

I can't get it fixed until 8:30 am and I must be at work before then.

Thinking about it almost got me sick, my day definitely won't start without drinking coffee.

I went around the house feeling uncomfortable and my wife intervened but nothing worked. I sat down on the sofa as she walked out to retrieve the things we left in the truck.

She came back with a bag pack and the box from the bunker.

"To my favorite grandchild, George", she read the note attached to the box before placing it in front of me.

"Oh, yes. I found it at grandma's place, I don't know who could have left it there", I replied.

I opened the box and found a mortal with some ancient inscription. I removed and I found a small pestle as well, there was a note in the box.

It says, "This is an ancestral coffee grinder. I waited to give it to you in person but you came later than I expected. Keep it and pass it on to your favorite grandchild, wishing you a happy life".

I felt sad, grandma found a way to reach out to me after she is gone.

My mind was blank and I couldn't even think of anything. I was called back to life when my wife said,"you should grind your coffee now".

"That's true", I responded with a smile and quickly went to grind the beans with the ancient grinder.

The coffee grinder did justice and I had one of the best coffee experiences again

Despite not being here, grandma saved the day.
