Many of you may already know that I enjoy writing poetry. I do my best to try to promote other people's poetry contests and participate when I can, but I think it's time I explain something to everyone. I don't like critiquing or evaluating poetry in any form. I avoid criticizing or evaluating the quality of other people's poetry as I realize that it takes a lot for most of us to even put it out there in the first place. So with that said, I've been at an impasse as to how I could further promote the poetry community on steemit without hosting contests or contributing in the workshops that can be found on multiple servers. I think I finally have it.
I did a trial run of a pirate poetry jam a week or so ago where I took over the radio and read poetry and invited others to come on and share their poetry. I realize that without any form of planning or announcement that it's hard to get everyone together with no notice, so I'm going to announce this next one and see what kind of turn out we get. If all goes well I may even consider making this a weekly or bi-weekly event. For all of my poetically inclined friends out there I am extending to you a chance to not only have your poetry shared, but to allow you to read it yourself live with other like-minded poets doing the same.
Current Guidelines (subject to change):
- Maximum of ten minutes per poet.
- Hosted on PAL Net Discord.
- Audio will be recorded and shared afterwards.
- Any poetry must be read by the original author.
- Must be respectful of MSP community standards while in the Discord server and not be currently banned for past issues. (Essentially don't be a dick.)
If you are interested and would like a chance to promote your poetry and network with other poets that share their work here on steemit, let me know if you will be attending. Anyone that doesn't want to participate is still welcome to come and listen live. I will try this first run next weekend following @aggroed's Minnow Mayor Town Hall radio show, so the date is April 1 and the time should be around 11:00 PM Central Standard Time (4:00 AM UTC 4/2/18). We will begin once Aggroed's show completes so if his show runs over we could start a little late, but I think the time will be fairly accurate. I hope to have some of my awesome poet friends join us and look forward to seeing you there. Namaste.
