Hi @logic @steemcleaners thanks for your honest reply. The reason for my distaste, when people say "reward pool is limited" and muh... "proof of brain". Is because I believe using these two justifications to flag someone is wrong.
Reward pool nonsense
Your narrative I'm guessing is.... "The reward pool is limited so only worthy content should get a slice of the pie".
My view
The reward pool is not limited and not actually a pool of money, it’s just a sum figure, a % slice of money generated by stake holder activity.
As such the "reward pool" can increase in value if we attract more people to create additional activity.
The primary aim should thus be to attract more people aka more investment, to generate more activity, which will increase the "reward pool".
Flagging & Blacklisting and the threat of, is reducing activity & scaring investors away, i.e. the direct opposite of what we should be doing.
Proof of Brain nonsense
Your narrative I'm guessing is...."Steemit is based on proof of brain, the pooled opinion of stake holders will let the best content attract it's just rewards, flagging is a necessity to weed out the cr+p and abuse on the platform".
My view
The concept of proof of brain is flawed because it’s based on the popularity and opinion of what's good. Some people have vastly different opinions to the mainstream view, these minority views & opinions will always have fewer brains, maybe no-one supporting them.
In addition a pooled proof of brain can not exist if these things exist:
- Paid promotion that allows anyone to bypass the pooled brain
- Unequal brain weighting (rep system)
Example 1 of POB not working:
@amnlive 's minority view has been forced by you to reduce the amount of posts they make from 10-20 posts a day to one summarized post per day.
This forced action means that their content is no longer useful to consume as the viewer cannot find anything easily. They have been soft censored by your POB narrative. Who's next?
Can you imagine treating the theguardian.com or other mainstream news source if they were on Steemit in the same manner?
Example 2 of POB not working:
Look at the Steemit trending page, this is not Proof of Brain, it’s more like proof of who’s got the most money and who’s willing to risk it.
