With the PlayStation 4 coming up on its five-year anniversary, Sony is dropping the price on a number of the console’s best-selling games under the new PlayStation Hits label, the company announced Tuesday.
The games in this line, which include PS4 exclusives such as Naughty Dog’s 2016 adventure Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and multiplatform titles like EA DICE’s 2013 shooter Battlefield 4, will be available for just $19.99 each starting June 28. The launch lineup for the PlayStation Hits program will feature 15 games for U.S. customers and 14 in Canada, where the games will cost CA$19.99.
Those prices will be available “at select retailers across the U.S.” and at “participating retailers” in Canada, respectively, according to Sony. And of course, the company will drop the prices accordingly on the PlayStation Store in both countries.
At retail, PlayStation Hits games will feature red packaging instead of the traditional blue, and Sony is also adding a red banner to the PlayStation Store listings for the titles in question. The company has re-released top sellers at a discount on every gaming platform in its history except the PlayStation Vita, going all the way back to the original PlayStation. Until now, the program has been called “Greatest Hits” in North America; the packaging was red on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, and neon green on the PS1.
