Baiturrahim Mosque, Ulee Lheue, Banda Aceh, was built around the 17th century during the sultanate of Aceh Darussalam. When the Dutch attacked Aceh in 1873 the mosque was also burned by the Dutch.
Then tens of years after the attack, the Dutch made a restoration to dampen the anger of the people of Aceh, and when finished it looks like a European building or similar like the Dutch buildings in Banda Aceh, and Sabang in general.
In the historical trajectory, the mosque was also during the Tsunami on December 26, 2004, once a witness to the fierce Tsunami waves, but he himself was still standing strong and only suffered minor damage
