I researched on the internet about The Colosseum and the following are some of interesting facts about it:

  • It was selected as one of the new wonders of the world back in 2007.

  • The biggest amphitheater in the world. It measures 189 meters in length, 156 meters in width and 50 meters in height.

  • It was originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, named after the Flavian dynasty of emperors. Built between 72 A.D and 80 A.D by Emperor Vespasian, a founding member of the Flavian dynasty. Made from stone and concrete.

  • Entrance to the Colosseum was provided for free for ancient Romans and on top of that foods were also provided for free since an event could last up to 100 days at the Colosseum.
