Lucky me, a good friend called me on Friday night for a last minute invite to join him and another friend on Saturday morning for some fishing and photography fun. My alarm went off at 4:30 am on Saturday but it was totally worth it as I had a great morning. The sunrise was a beautiful one that just kept on going and going, tons of color for a long time. This fishing was only ok. We only caught one little Kokanee Salmon but fishing is always fun, even when no fish are caught.
The boat ride out to the spot where lots of fish tend to be was quite scenic.
After we were all set up and fishing, I got out the Canon 5DS R with a 16-35mm lens and had a little fun. Again, I was impressed with how long the colors in the sky lasted. The lake is Stampede Reservoir, north of Truckee, California (where I live) a bit. If you don't know a lot about fishing, the second line in the photo below is a downrigger. It has a big weight at the end of the metal cable. You attach your fishing line to it and it helps lower your lewer down to your desired depth. Usually, I come home with a few Kokanee Salmon to eat, they are delicious. But this day, we just had bad luck fishing.
Fortunately, we had good luck with photography! After fishing a bit, we stopped at a creek where the Kokanee Salmon are running, meaning they are swimming upstream to breed. I got many cool underwater photos of the spawning fish, but that is for my next post...
I hope you all had a fun weekend too!
