Current projects:

Coding project (2021-2022)
Papillon placed 8 brand new Notebooks (Laptops) at “The Imibala Trust” Somerset West (Cape Town Western Province) Learner Advancement Centre in November 2020 in preparation for Coding Training to start in 2021, for the disadvantaged children and youth.
The Pilot Project started in 2021 with 18 high school learners.

The Papillon Foundation has partnered with The Imibala Trust to present a weekly computer literacy and coding programme to 18 learners who attend Simanyene Secondary School (Strand). These learners participated in Imibala’s primary school computer-based Math programme and are now ready to take their skills to the next level. Two local highly experienced and qualified trainers have come on board as volunteers in the project.
Each week half of the group works on the laptops, while the other half receives Math tutoring from another volunteer teacher.

HP has come on board and has offered 22 tablets to be used in the project.
Various other role players are being brought in and this popular project is now in its expanding stages.

Trauma project (2015-2022)
Papillon has been the Financial Patron for the Apples of Gold/LAMb Trauma Project from 2015 to 2022. These are internationally accredited workshops, where participants can apply for CPD points upon completion of the workshops.

There is a war on children in SA. In a 3-month period from April to June 2022, 243 children were killed and 1670 were victims of grievous bodily harm.

The aim of the Papillon free accredited trauma training, in partnership with “Apples of Gold” and “LAMb International”, is to teach and equip caregivers in understanding and recognizing trauma, to understand the impact trauma has on the life of a child and how to become competent in dealing with the child's behaviours - helping them to work through that trauma so that it is dealt with quickly and effectively.
Excellent practical exercises, group work and discussion, and PowerPoint presentations and videos are included in the training. The training has also been adapted to suit the African context as much as possible, so that it is relevant and understandable for the people being trained.
Caregivers can also obtain CPD points after the successful completion of this training.

The Papillon Foundations NPO has partnered with Imibala and joined them on their feeding scheme journey. They have fed 4000 people on a weekly basis since May 2020 until January 2021. The food consists of instant porridge that can easily be prepared with cold or hot water and provides the children with all the necessary nutrients.

A special thank you!

We want to thank each of the special persons on Hive that supported @papilloncharity over the 5 years that we have now been here on Hive. There are also some extra special persons, and I will not embarrass you by tagging any names here, as you know who I am talking about.

Just know that we sincerely appreciate your backing in our ventures, as without each of you things will be so much harder for us.

The title of this post is; It is by giving that we receive, came to my mind, as we wish that all of you will receive seven-fold more in return for your good hearts.

And so may the New Year take a lot of burdens off your backs and grant you good health.

Btw. This came past our house right now and I rushed out to show you something special. A singing Santa ringing a loud bell.
