Serene Landscapes & Indigenous Wildlife of Assateague Island Virginia
Hello everyone. Relatively new here on Steemit, and what a great community and experience this has turned out to be.
My girlfriend took these awesome pictures with her Nikon Coolpix P900 while we were at the National Wildlife Refuge located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. These shots she captured of a Great Blue Heron were just amazing. These are the original pictures with no editing except for the watermarks.
She is extremely shy about sharing her stunning work, so I feel very great-full to be able to share these with the rest of the world.
Such a tranquil place, a one of a kind gem. Assateague wild ponies have roamed the beaches, pine forest, and salt marsh of Assateague Island since the 1600's. The wild ponies arrived on Assateague Island when a Spanish galleon cargo ship (with a cargo of horses) sank off the coast and the horses swam to shore.
With over 300 species of migratory birds, this island is one of the best places in the United States to bird watch and to take remarkable images. We saw so many different types of birds and animals, all co-existing together in absolute harmony. Humans could learn a valuable lesson from them, wish we could all get along that way. The sights literally left us speechless.
I highly recommend that if you do ever get a chance to vacation, this is one spot you should have on your bucket list my friends. We were left with an experience that we will never forget and will treasure for a lifetime.
