Today I visited the Airport Berlin Tempelhof which ceased operations in 2008 but has a unique history.
The following pictures shall show how to utilize a closed airport for the benefit of the citizens of Berlin.

Nowadays the Police President of Berlin has its Office here too.

A short overview of the “Airlift” history from 1948/1949 when the Russians closed all access points to West Berlin and the US Airforce flew in supplies via air cargo.
This gives you an imagination of the huge size of this airport.
I’m standing right on the landing tracks of the former airport. It’s huge.
