Photography: Dark vs Light

Studying differences of photos when changing Exposure Time (Shutter Speed) and ISO.

Generally:

  • Shorter exposure time will produce darker photos.
  • Lower ISO will produce darker photos.
  • Longer exposure time will get more light therefore brighter photos.
  • Higher ISO will also lighten the photos.

Exposure time can either be in seconds or fractions of a second, that's why 1/1600 produces a darker photo versus one with 1/60 on it. 1/1600 is actually 0.000625 of a second. (This is my own undertanding on it - I may be wrong though - not enough research on it yet)

Had to edit the window from the first photo into the second photo because the contrast was too high to see outside the window. If you actually look a bit closer into it - you'll see that I wasn't able to overlay it properly:

Zoomed in on the 2nd photo.
