Living History and Urban Decay - Touring an Old Jail in Indiana

What a treat! This week we were able to tour an old jail owned by our friends in Indiana.

The time and paint of a jail that once was is literally peeling off the walls, revealling the layers upon layers of man power applied to the space.

I wonder if the inmates did the painting?

The medical ward had white tiles and reminded me of a "white room" for people losing their mind.... I wonder how many minds were lost here.....

There was something stunningly beautiful about a jail in decay.... A cage for humans, left to rot. So grateful it's no longer "in use".

It was a great way for my children to learn about what happens in jail without having to witness actual human suffering.

Interestingly enough, I have a Dear friend held as a political prisoner in this very town. www.freeschaeffercox.com
