Photographing the beginning of a season. Winter is an amazing part of the year. When the cold sets in and everything shuts down, so much more comes to life than meets the eye.
Just after the first snow of the year, I found myself wondering the woods on a cold afternoon hike. With most of the bark on the trees still damp from the warm air and early season snow, the contrast was heavily defined against the new white layer blanketing the ground. I couldn't help myself.
In moments like these the cold seems to fade.

Sincerely -
