Above the Golden Gate Bridge
DJI Mavic Pro, 1/50sec, f/2.2, ISO 400 [3407x2271]
I went to Baker Beach last night at sunset to fly my drone. As per usual, I completely underestimated the San Francisco traffic and showed up right as the sun was setting. I attempted to get my drone up ASAP and was met with some sort of forced safety quiz from the DJI software. It would not let me launch or skip the quiz, I had to complete it. After forcefully closing the program 3 times in haste trying to bypass the quiz I realized I had no choice. I did the quiz as quick as I could and launched the drone, it was getting dark but still had enough light for some shots.
The parking lot for Baker Beach, where I launched my drone is almost 2 miles away from the Golden Gate Bridge. I wasn’t planning on flying over it but there it was, calling my name. I thought why not, this would be a good test of the Mavics flight distance. It was cold and windy so I sat inside my nice warm car and proceeded to fly the drone 2 miles away to the bridge, I couldn’t believe how strong the signal stayed. It dropped to one bar a few times but I never lost the image on the screen, or flight control of the drone. I was loosing light really fast and my compositions unfortunately were all very rushed. I ended up cringing at most of the shots when I loaded them into photoshop. This one worked well enough however, I don’t hate it.
