Excerpt From Perms & Taboo- A funny nostalgic tale.

Geoff searched the shop for the ketchup but got a little annoyed that his favourite brand wasn’t there. He was hoping that the shopkeeper, Graeme, had some in the back.

“Good evening Geoff, as she kicked you out to get your evening supplies?"

“Something like that. Where’s the Heinz ketchup? You only have the cheap stuff, and we have gone all out and bought birds eye cod fish fingers. You can’t have cheap ketchup!” He presented his statement with an air of sarcasm.

“Do not fear my friend; I have some in the back. Just a jiffy!” As Geoff stood waiting patiently, he wondered if his tea would be going hard and crispy in the oven. His thoughts were distracted however, when Simply Red came on the radio. He smiled and sang along, unexpectedly, as he recalled, ‘something got me started,’ being one of the songs played at the time he met Carol.

“I’m not disturbing you am I?” Graeme laughed as he crept up behind Geoff.

“Give over. Graeme, how long have we known each other?”

“Oh, it must be coming on for ten years now.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“You just have.”

“I mean something else.”

He laughed. "Yes!”

“Am I boring?”

“No, you are not boring. You always talk, and you are always friendly…ish…”

“Am I predictable?” Graeme looked down at Geoff’s PG Tips and the packet of bourbons that accompanied them.
