Alright so I thought the perfect idea for my second post is to explain the hardship and pain I have gone through to find a somewhat reasonably priced Amazing Spider-Man 238. For those of you who are not comic or superhero fans. Amazing Spider-Man Issue 238 is the first appearance of a Villain called the Hobgoblin. He is one of my personal favorite villains of Spider-Man. Don't ask me why, because I can't even tell you why other than he is Badass and looks awesome.
I have been on the hunt for this book for going on 3 years but I don't want to spend more then 80-85 on this book. You can call me cheap, but I know what the book is worth and unless it's graded or its a raw 9.8. It shouldn't be more then that. Otherwise you're a sucker and paid more then you should've, but that's your choice and I won't judge, but back to the story. I have gone to numerous Cons looking for this book and everytime I go, it is always majorly overpriced. I've had people have it priced all the way up to 185 dollars ungraded and I sit there looking at these vendors like they have 3 heads. So I bargain with them, but they never get as low as I would like, but that's business.
One Vendor at East Coast Comic Con was on the same Isle as @blewitt stores booth. I help them out at that con for set up. So I bargained with this one Vendor the whole weekend and wouldn't go lower then 100. So on Sunday during close-up, Chris told me to walk up to him with 71 bucks exactly in my wallet and say "Listen I have exactly 71 bucks on me and you know that I have been eyeballing that book all weekend and you've been making comments to me when I walk by saying that it's still there I'm trying to take it off your hands and you're going to make money regardless so any chance you want to do it for 71 bucks?" And I said no way is that going to work, but I did it anyways. The guy looked at me after I said that and said No way am I going to do it for that low, sorry. I went back to Chris and told him what happened and all he said was "What a fucking dick and I know that guy!". All I could do was laugh at it and Chris responded with "Don't worry I'll find you one, just be patient"..... 2 fucking years later. That asshat hasn't found me one, but he has definitely found some books that are worth the wait.
