This experience as of late has made us consider looking for something different to play. Of all people, my daughter told me that she had been playing Overwatch 2 after downloading it for free. I had seen the first game but never got interested in playing it. I knew it was another eSport game so it has always been on my radar. Given the desperation to finding something to play and enjoy with the friends, we all downloaded it for a try. We were quickly amazed on how much we have even able to enjoy it early on.
The onboarding experience was fairly easy and a great example of how treating new players should be done. After only 10-15 minutes, we were all connected looking for an online match. I think we also saw the positive side of Skill Based Match Making which has got us frustrated in other games as we were finding fun matches to play. After a night or two, the matches started to get more difficult but it was also an opportunity to learn and adapt on strategies around the maps and the actual characters that can be used in combinations.
I guess the main way to figure out if we have a winner is if anyone has gone back to Call of Duty. Surprisingly we went from one weekend to the next playing only Overwatch 2 with nobody even commenting on Call of Duty for the moment. I think the attempt of playing a different game was successful so far so we are mostly excited. We have an upcoming trip to meet and play so that will be the next test on whether we have moved on or not. The other special things is that we find ourselves talking about trying something new. We are already wondering what the next one with be! Any suggestions?
