A silver lining

A few days ago I wrote about the little accident I had at home. I bumped my head into the ceiling lamp and it hurt the whole day, right up to the moment I went to bed. I was so scared shit that I wouldn't wake up the next morning in case I had a concussion or some blood clot in my head. I even briefly considered writing a note for my hubby in case anything happened to me during the night. Well, I'm still here 3 days on, living and breathing as usual. Just as well as I never got round to write the note.

Yesterday my landlord sent the electicians round to fix the light. They swapped out the previous rather-stylish-but-a bit-too-heavy-and-not-too-practical light. Actually, I found an old photo of the light, looks nice eh?

And now I have this box standard white round pill box ceiling light. Boring..... It's a big difference to the previous one which I actually quite liked.

Well, there's a silver lining to everything. My landlord told me to bin the old light for him, frame and lamp shade and all. I took one look at those lamp shades and thought they would be such a waste to bin. Since I've picked up acrylic pour recently - that's where you pour acrylic paint over stuff - I thought .... the lamp shades would come in really handy

Each of these lamp shades are about 16cm tall, petal shape and is made of 10mm glass. I'm going to pour over them, and afterwards they can be used as:

  • a flower pot, just turn it over
  • a clock, I could fix a clock movement on top
  • a candle shade
  • a lamp, need to see if I can work out how to wire up a lamp base
  • an aroma diffuser, haven't quite thought out this one yet
  • or just a simple decorative ornament

What do you think? Do you have any more ideas for me?
