Perpetually Autumn

If I could, I would live in a place that was Autumn all year. But then I guess it would take away from the magic of the season.

Most people who like this time of year talk about the colorful leaves fluttering to the ground. Others get excited about Halloween parties and pumpkin spice lattes. I enjoy these things too but what really draws me in is the cool, crisp air and the charged energy everywhere. It really is a season of change and I feel most optimistic and lively at this time of year.

China just had one of it's biggest national holidays - Mid Autumn Festival. People get time off work, spend time with family, and eat crabs as well as mooncakes (pictured above). These come in various flavours, such as egg, lotus root, red bean paste, nuts, and fruit fillings to name a few. Though small, they are dense and a single one can contain up to 900 calories.

From what I've seen, a lot of Chinese people actually don't like them so it's the equivalent of fruit cake at Christmas time for Americans (or is that just a Canadian thing?). They are just given away as gifts for the sake of giving. Personally, I like a few of the flavours but then again, I like fruit cake too so maybe I'm just a little bit weird...

So what season fills you up with passion? Let me know in the comments!
