Covering a total of three days, it all started with an opening ceremony. The athletes marched out onto the track proudly wearing the uniforms for their team...After the official tea ceremony of course.
This is actually a track meet at the high school I'm teaching at. Back in Canada, if we had a track meet, we would wear pinneys and it would be for half a day. We didn't have opening and closing ceremonies, nor did we have costumes and outfits for them:
The bikes they are riding are part of the hugely popular bike-sharing system here in China. Glad to see they are being put to good use and not thrown on the side of the sidewalk like some places I've seen. :D
Other classes/teams had some incredibly creative outfits:
SUMOS!!
Jabbawockees?
Showing off those Asian roots! These were some of my favourite. I especially love the Tarzan theme.
The classes all either designed the costumes themselves or rented them out. If they designed them, they got to keep them. Here are some of the outfits that made me scratch my head:
These two go hand in hand. All day, NOT everyday?
I must be missing something here. Not sure who this guy is...
Are you ready for the last one and my personal favourite?

A lot of the students are big into cosplay here. I'm actually a big fan of anime too. That's where I'm guessing this is from but I have no idea which one. It just really reminds me of something...
All in all, the students were happy to have no classes and they seemed like they had a great time, despite the rainy weather. Here's one final look at the day:
I appreciate you taking the time to read through my post or peruse the pictures.
If you haven't already, take a look at the board game my friends and I are working on. It'll be released this January on Kickstarter!
