STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 59 - Original Composition - Nostalgia (for my grandmother)

Hello Steemit!

First of all I want to share my gratitude for all the support @gokulramdas and I have received for the Open Mic Week 58!! We just finished setting up our workspace in Boston, it is called "The Mogati Labs". This is how it looks today:

For this week's Open Mic I want to share something that is very special to me and that I just finished working on, with the help of @gokulramdas. My family decided to put together a book of poems, all written by my grandmother, who is a renowned philosopher and educator in Chile (where I'm from). She is one of the strongest, most independent woman that I know. I wanted to be a part of this, even though I live in Boston, so I wrote music for one of her poems, "Nostalgia". She didn't know about all of this, that is what made this even more special. Yesterday, they all met and gave her the book, and then enjoyed the music...

NOSTALGIA

Me hace falta esa mirada
que se demora en mi cuerpo
y al subir hasta mis ojos
halla segura el sendero
que la lleva hasta el lugar
donde escondo mis deseos...
los descubre, los alumbra,
los despierta con su fuego.

Me hace falta esa mirada,
Hace tiempo no la tengo...
y mis deseos se duermen
a la espera del encuentro.

Here is a picture of my grandmother holding her book of poems and watching the video:

She wrote me a dedicatory...my sister is keeping the book safe for me until I come back :)

"Dearest Matilde, I'm so happy with your marvelous music for my poem, with the hope of seeing you again soon"
