Hurry! It's @fisteganos Birthday and it's a good time to let you all know what I discovered about him and also wish him a pleasant birthday wish.
The name 'fisteganos' belongs to a personality that's of great importance to the Nigerian steemit community. He is the very first Nigerian to have have registered on steemit in the modern city of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria as far back as January 2017.
He is one of a kind. A selfless young man with a personality so attractive. At first glance, one might think he's just an ordinary guy and nothing much really, except being a graduate and has life to still live but there's more to him.
I met him for the first time at the mini Ibadan meet-up we had which was a gathering of few steemians to plan for the bigger Ibadan Meet-up which was held on the 24th. Before then, I had heard alot about him and was glad meeting him in person but we didn't have time to talk or mingle one-on-one.
Interestingly, he ran a contest on Valentine's Day with the tag #lovingfisteganos and I saw it as an opportunity to appreciate him for the show of love and kindness he displayed at the mini meet-up. Oh, did I say he single handedly footed the bills for all the snacks and drinks everyone who attended had and i was impressed.
He's got such a large heart.
I have always wondered how he got that name, I even thought at a time perhaps it was an Italian or Spanish name. But then, we got chatting on whatsapp and I figured out that 'Fi' was from his native name 'Funbi' while 'Steganos' was up to me to decipher. In his words he said...
,it's from Steganography. It's a method of concealing messages. Do you mind reading more about it, it explains me.
Straight up, I googled on Steganography and learnt all about it. Steganography is simply the concealing of a secret message within an ordinary message and the extraction of that message at its destination. Source
It's a derivation from two greek words, the first being 'steganos' meaning protected, covered up or concealed and the second part 'graphy' which means writting.
It was used in the ancient times to pass across secret plans to be executed for a particular course in normal messages that were sent from one person or place to another. For instance, it was said that in 440BC, a man called Histaeus sent a message to warn against the impending danger that was looming. He shaved the hair of his servant and tattooed the message on his scalp. When his hair had grown back, he was sent to Aristogoras who had to shave the servant's hair again to get to read the message.
Steganography is still been used today in various ways and I know with this little information, you too can choose to make use of it in any way profitable to you.
