When I was in secondary school, we had a program once every year, called formal dining, which is when all students in a particular set, dresses up formally and have dinner with a partner of your choice.
We normally do it in one of our school halls which is always decorated and well prepared.

in 2019 we had one, and it turned out to be my last after so many, I still remember winning the king (best dressed) in 2017, and I hoped I would win again in 2019.

LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW THE DAY WENT

The formal dining is normally after school hours, in the evening, and I believe not many people would even be fully focused during school hours because of it.
I got to school with my suit and I knew I was going to look sharp.

The event started by 4 PM and by 2 PM, everyone was asked to be in one place so that we could could change and go out together. Towards the end, I started getting ready because I always like taking my time, especially when it’s for events like this.

It was fun when we were all there, because we were talking about how the event would turn out, and from the window, we could see the whole school standing waiting for our arrival.

We went out in pairs of two’s, and I went out last with one of my friends, they all screamed when we were seen, and i enjoyed that.

When we got to the entrance of the hall, everyone proceeded to look for their female partners so they can have a cocktail together and then proceed to go to their seats. I did that, and I took her to our table, where there were drinks and wine waiting for us already!

There were a series of programs to begin with, such as duets by partners, spoken word, and even comedy.
It didn’t take long before the first meal arrived, and it was pepper soup. It was really nice and I was really looking forward to the next meal.
The next program was the dance group, it was four pairs of 2, dancing salsa.

It was really entertaining and different.
I almost joined, but I didn’t think I had the flair and flexibility for it.

After this, we were then called, table by table, to go and receive our food, which was saved for us depending on our choice. I like experimenting sometimes and so I took a special type of rice and sauce that i had never taken before.

The last activity was to walk down the aisle, for a parade with your partner.
I and my partner went when it was time for us to go, and we walked down with a lot of cheers from the audience.

This was normally what was used to determine who would be crowned king and queen.
Everyone went for their parade, and then it was time to announce the winners.
Some people thought I would win and so they were calling my name just before the winner was announced, but unfortunately it wasn’t so, and another person won. It was well deserved and I was happy for them, they were then asked to go to the front and were told to sit so they could give them their crown, at that moment, i was just remembering when i was the one there 2 years ago, and i was relishing that moment again, they were dressed up, and after the dressing, they were asked to dance, and i remember them being shy of doing so, and then everyone else in the hall went and joined them on the dance floor, we were all there for like 5 to 10 minutes, and it was really fun, also memorable.

This was the last event of that day, and then we closed the dining. We took a few pictures, and everyone went home happy.
