The only thing that women need is to be understood. People should know that we need to sleep instead of the belief that we should always be ready.
What people talk about is how hard it must be, not how happy we should be. We need to be cuddling our babies without thinking we're doing something wrong. We need to be able to talk in the meantime, we're going to be pouring out, crying and knowing that there's nothing wrong with them.
Instead of asking whether the milk is enough, we really need a society that does not really wonder. We need spouses who will prepare us dinner, not the spouses who keep the baby together like ornaments.
For example, we need wives who will wake up at midnight and support us. We need friends to share their lives with honesty. In every way we need a world that allows our motherhood and does not come upon us.
The postpartum period is a sacred period and must be treated as such. The second time I'm thinking about the second, I hope that the other will not be as eerie as the first.
But this time, I'm not going to use a happy face mask. I will give myself enough time to fill myself with people who will be better, spend time with my friends and understand me. It's hard for mothers to do.
